Basketball 13-4A results from Saturday - Tigers - Pirates Win !

In a hard fought game in Texarkana Sat. the Lobos dropped their 134A basketball district opener to the Texas High Tigers by a score of 53-48. Texas High pulled away in the final quarter.

Pine Tree defeated Sulphur Springs at the Wildcat gym by a score of 52-33 in another 13-4A district game.

Lake Travis 24 Longview 17 - Final

In Waco tonight Lake Travis won their third straight title and defeated Longview for the second straight time in the title game.

A great game and Longview battled to the end. This ends the year for 13-4A football. With changes coming in Feb., it may also mean the Lobos go back up to 5A. I hope they will continue to play as many teams as they can from this great 4A district.

Watched the game with Denton Guyer last week, and the Lobos are looking tuned.

Lake Travis also appears to be in top form. And they did beat Austin Westlake early in the season 42-21. (Westlake is playing for the 5A Div I championship Saturday...)

Could be a hundred scored on Saturday.

East Texas 4A football districts next fall

I will take a guess that East Texas will have two districts next year:

The Marshall district will have Marshall, Hallsville, PT, JT, Nacogdoches, Kilgore, Jacksonville, Lindale. Longview will be 5A. Henderson drops to 3A (8 team district)

The so called "I-30 district" will be : Texas High, MP, SS, Greenville, Royse City, Rockwall, Rockwall Heath. (7 team district)

Consolation game - Marshall wins in OT 65-50 over Greenville

Third Place - Pine Tree 62 - Whitehouse 54

Championship Game - Texas High 48- Lindale 36 ( Tigers still undefeated)

Also Tyler Lee defeated Odessa Permian.

If anyone sees a score from 13-4A basketball teams, please post them. I know the Lobos and Wildcats have many basketball players still in football, but the rest of the district should be at full strength now.

Neville (12-1) - They are STILL the #2 team in Louisiana and beat Northside to advance to the 4A semifinals next week.

Longview (12-1)- They are STILL the #2 team in Texas and beat Carrollton Newman Smith to advance to the 4A Div I region finals next week against Waxahachie (I'll be there).

Sulphur Springs (10-3)- Will play Denison in the 4A Div II region finals next week.

Denison (12-1)- Will play Sulphur Springs (see above)

First off, congratulations Mavs on a great season. To all the seniors good luck. You will soon leave high school and enter a new phase of your life.

What do the Mavs have coming back for next fall from this years varsity and how about the players from an outstanding JV ? Hard to say anything about the district race next year. The UIL may change everything. I sure hope 13-4A stays fairly intact.

It's been all over the media..... but it seems like to me the easiest way to solve the problem has yet to come up.

A few weeks ago FOX33 showed the New Orlean Saints instead of the Dallas Cowboys. This makes sense after all, they ARE a Louisiana station.

Seems like it may happen again in coming weeks.

Why can't this be fixed by offering FOX51 out of Tyler? They will be showing the Dallas game.

We have KTAL (NBC from Shereveport) and KETK...

Maverick Practices

I have been to the Mav practices the last 2 mornings, the coaches are pushing them and working on all phases of the game. There is alot of excitement out there with some unfinished business. Also saw some new stuff being worked on. I talked to some of the players at the basketball game and they seem to be focused on what they need to do.

The season ended for the Tigers at Royce City Saturday. The Indians are very strong.

Go Mavs, bring home the title.

Let's hope 13-4A stays intact next year after the UIL change occurs.

Texas High says so long to their talented QB, but will have almost the entire defense back next year.
