Overall the mavs had a great season, who can complain about a winning record and a play-off run from a first-year staff. The defense deserves much props.
They continued to get better as the season progressed. The only times they had problems is when they were put in bad situations due to play calling. To
explain, the 3-3-5 five scheme didn't work one time this year. In fact ,everytime we lined up in it we were punished starting back in Houston against
Cy-Woods. However, the defense excelled when they were in a four-man front.
The offense on the other hand was very very very inconsistent. They failed to find an identiy the whole year. We scored points, not because of play-calling and schemes , but due to the tremendous amount of talent of the offensive side of the ball. Props to the offensive line(Big Shep,Bibb Twins, Noble,J. Hayes,B. Ford, K.Thomas, and Coach Andy Townsend) they were the most consistent and hard working group on the team. At times people said our line was getting whipped, but it was actually that our play-calling was so predictable, teams were stacking the box to stuff the run, and it appeared the line was doing nothing, but they were doing what they could do.
