With the Mav football season wrapped up, the next obvious thing to talk about concering the football team is REALIGNMENT.
There could be some serious changes in the landscape of East Texas 4A football.
11-4A is rumored to be losing Paris, Lindale, and North Lamar to 4A. That leaves only Mt. Pleasant, Sulphur Springs and Texas High.
12-4A is rumored to be losing Henderson to 4A.......
Toss in the fact that Longview (yes....LONGVIEW) could be headed to 4A and things look VERY interesting.
It's anyone's guess who will move up and who will move down, but even more impossible is trying to figure how who will end up where. There are tons of
options.... none of which are perfect.
Yes....it could be possible that Texas High and Nac (150 + miles apart) could end up in the same district, but PT and Longview..... or PT and Kilgore could end
up in different districts.
Crazy stuff........ and some interesting things to talk about in the coming months before the big day.

Just by looking at the numbers I think Paris & North Lamar will drop to 3A and Longview will drop to 4A. I believe Lindale and Henderson stay 4A. That
leaves Texas High, Mt. Pleasant, Sulphur Springs and Lindale out of current 11-4A and Marshall, Hallsville, Pine Tree, Whitehouse, Nacogdoches, Jacksonville,
Kilgore and Henderson out of current 12-4A then throw in Longview from 5A. In my opinion we will lose Sulphur Springs and Lindale to the further west district
with Greenville. The southern most schools will either form a new district or join one consisting of Whitehouse, Nacogdoches, Jacksonville, Kilgore and
Henderson. That leaves a far northeast 6 team district with Texas High, Mt. Pleasant, Marshall, Longview, Hallsville and Pine Tree. Heckuva good looking
district to me!

Highland Park turned in 2009 as their enrollment number. Longview, turned in 2005.
It's all but official now. |

I will take a crack at the realignment and make a prediction for 4 AAAA and whe
 re the Mavericks will wind up.
Prediction: 1. Marshall 2. Hallsville 3. Mt. Pleasant 4. Texas High 5. Longivew High 6. Pine Tree What do others think? I will be glad to see what the UIL decides at long last. 9 AM this coming (Friday Feb 1st) we will know and the coaches can get busy filling their non district schedules. |

You did pretty good there. The only one you missed was Sulphur Springs....and who could have seen that coming anyway?
