I'm curious to see if marshall will expand the offense a bit, seriously year and year out we've always out classed opponents with our speed but it
seems like our offense has always been high predictable, 2 tight ends and ram it down your throat, or an atletic qb making plays with his feet. I'd love to
see us use our speed to spread teams out, we will still be able to run the ball but it will give our talented stable of rb's some space to maneuver in.
Think about it most teams have 3 good db's on the team and one of them ususally plays an 8 technique also known as outside backer, Sam or Will. Marshall
has had a virtual sprint relay team in the form of it's skill players and most can't run with us so why not use it. Most of the time we are not gonna
have more size than most. It would be nice for our offense to dominate the game in the same way as our defense, not just keep the other teams offense off the
field and rely on a few big plays on offense. Put some of those terrific athletes that are on defense on offense and let them make plays. I'm sure I'm
not the only one who recognizes the high calber of athletes that marshall has in it's arsenal perenially but they are rarely used to help the offense, they
stack the defense, which isn't a problem but I think a team should be balanced on both sides of the ball. You can get a good ways with what we've been
doing, it's not a secret, Southern and Harris are defense guys but you have to be able to have your offense put points on the board to win it all, not just
because the defense shuts the other team down, thus giving the O a short field. Because after the 3rd round of the playoffs you will run into teams who you are
just not gonna be able to shut down and you need to be able to score. The last few years teams just put 8 to 9 defenders in the box and load up to stop the run
and if they do we've been stuck. Anybody remember the last 2 state title games, espescially the one at rose. Our passing game was nothing to worry about,
and AS SUPRISING AS THIS MAY SOUND I HOPE THIS CHANDLER KID LIVES UP TO THE HYPE BECAUSE MARSHALL NEEDS A PROLIFIC PASSER, or at least the threat of one. Not
to say Darious can't throw the ball but his strength is obviously in using his feet. If we show we can spread ya out and throw then teams have to stay
honest thus playing into our strength which seems to be running the ball and controlling the clock. The moment they stack the box BOOM we hit them deep so
I'm interested to see what they do this year. Take Southlake Carroll, they have a dominating defense, but it's because their offense puts up so many
points it allows the defense to put alot of pressure on the other teams offense because they know they have to match td for td if they want to stay close. Oh
one more thing the nature of the districts offense's has changed, T-high runs alot of spread and tosses it all over if I'm not mistaken, so does pine
tree, what type of offense does Sulpher Springs run? With longview it has never been a secret, power running with a lot of qb keepers and a few deep balls,
they're defense is always world class.
Hopefully someone can give me the background of the teams in this new district!!
