This is simple...... and very different from the Longview game in my opinion.
The general consensus was that conservative and predictable play-calling hurt the Mavs against Longview.
No one will be able to say that about the Texas High game. I was actually pretty pleased with the play calling. We mixed up the run between several backs, we aired it out with both short and long passes. I thought our offensive gameplan was what we've had the most success with.
The problem was lack of execution. The guys just weren't clicking. Passes were dropped, off target, or should have never been thrown. The O-line got dominated. Turnovers were killer. I think it was 4 or five in the FIRST QUARTER alone. I think we finished with 8, two of them we lost.
I'll admit I gave the coaching staff a tough time last week...... but this loss was not because we had a bad offensive gameplan. This loss was because the guys on the field just didn't execute. The coaches can't throw the ball, they can't catch it, and they can't block.
Marshall was inside the Tiger 35 yardline 4 times. Twice inside the 15..... and turned it over all 4 times.
Just a tough night....... but the offensive play calling wasn't the problem. Lack of concentration and execution was our undoing.
And if it wasn't for several strong defensive stands by the defense deep in our own territory, Texas High may have had another 21 points.
On to Sulphur Springs..... this is a game Marshall needs to win to right the ship. We still have a very good team. The guys just need to BELIEVE IT.

Guys, I have been watching this message board for months and have
refraind from commenting until now. I can no longer hold my tongue! I can only imagine what the Mavs would be like if we were not 1-dimensional. We are
RUN-centered, and that is a fact. We only pass when all else has failed and that is very disappointing. Especially when we do not practice a passing game
during the week but expect QB's to throw the ball in a pinch and expect WR's to make catches to save our butts when the pressure is on when we do not
prepare during the off-season or during the week to throw the ball. Good grief! Saturday's MNM quoted the TH coach after the game saying "We knew all
we had to do was make Marshall throw the football!" That is exactly what they did and we barely threw until late in the 3rd qtr. Most of Fitzgerald's
24 passes were in the 4th qtr. THAT IS TOO LATE!
