Congratulations to the Bulldogs. They won their first State Championship in football tonight beating Celina 49-37. Carthage running back Dwight Smith was
simply too much for Celina. He ran for 271yds and 5tds.

As I was reading the Dallas Morning News on Friday about the match up between Celina and Carthage I got the impression that the writers knew nothing about
East Texas football. They were so pro Celina it was boring to read. I am so glad that Carthage showed the metroplex area that East Texas teams are just as
powerful as any team in the state. Interesting note about Coach Surratt, he is in the East Texas Baptist University Tigers Hall of Fame. Not as a football
player but as a baseball player.
