Marshall Mavericks used senior night at Maverick Field to play one of their best games of the year. The Mavs had senior starters at first base (Jackson Hood),
second base (Al Agnor), third base (Dustin Fitzgerald), left field (Ryan Hall), center field (Sawyer Hall), right field (Sam Baldwin) and catcher (Jared
Gobert). R. Hall left early in the game due to a migraine and was replaced by senior Nathan Hicks. The Mavs used six hits(I think) to eke out two runs and beat
the Nacogdoches Golden Dragons 2 - 1. Gobert and Baldwin each had two hits apiece. Sawyer Hall had an RBI single and P.J. Talley had the other hit for the
Mavs. Maverick starter sophomore Beau Bayliss went the distance on the bump for the Mavs and pulled of (probably) the biggest win of his young career. Great
job guys. I knew all along you had it in you. Just keep believing in yourselfs and each other and you can make the playoffs.
Follow the Mavs to Whitehouse next Tuesday and Kilgore next Friday and help "root" them to victory.
This win would rank up there with some of the times we beat Lufkin when they were state ranked back in the day. Without a doubt, one of the biggest wins in
the history of the program.
As long as we take care of business on Tuesday, it looks like there will be a showdown in Kilgore on Friday night.
As it stands now...it looks like whoever gets the #3 spot in 12-4A will take on Sulphur Springs in the first round of the playoffs. Hallsville will get
Lindale... while Nac and Texas High will get first round byes.
